Owen Grace - the Brick Specialest

Founder & Curator, Bricks By The Sea (Halifax, NS)

Bricks By The Sea is Halifax’s beloved, annual LEGO exhibition founded and curated by local AFOL (Adult Fan Of LEGO) Owen Grace. Since its launch in 2003, the exhibition has grown from a group project into a city-wide seasonal attraction that showcases large-scale MOCs (my own creations), collaborative builds from many different indavidual and different Lego Groups like the Maritime LEGO Users Group (MariLUG)

Each winter, the Nova Scotia Museum of Natural History (and a few other local spots) fill up with sprawling LEGO scenes -everything from a cozy holiday village and a bustling Modular Building street, to a full Halifax Harbour display. You’ll spot regional landmarks like the Halifax Town Clock built in bricks, plus themed mosaics and even robotics demos (like Cub3r, the robot that solves Rubik’s Cubes). Owen takes inspiration from both die-hard LEGO fans and families who just love the nostalgia. Over the years, media buzz and community support have helped mark some big milestones, including the show’s 20th anniversaries in 2023.
